Stabbing With Two Iron Rods
A team of doctors at Faridabad’s Asian Institute of Medical Sciences successfully removed two iron rods that had pierced through the abdomen of a 20-year-old construction worker on Monday.
A statement issued by the hospital said two iron rods had pierced the abdomen of Anil Kumar, who is a resident of Ankhir village near Faridabad, after he was hit by a truck carrying the rods. The iron rods were of 25 to 30 mm thickness each, and passed through Kumar’s stomach, part of the small intestine, lower part of the liver and pancreas, before exiting through his back. The team of doctors led by the hospital chairman and MD Dr N K Pandey performed the surgery after anaesthesia was administered to the patient in a sitting position. Both the rods were removed after securing the vitals and a part of the stomach, which was damaged, was removed. Doctors repaired Kumar’s small intestines and liver.
